Food Bank of Delaware

Thank you for your support of the Food Bank of Delaware! Each year, along with our 575 Hunger Relief Program Partners, we receive over 916,000 visits from Delawareans seeking emergency food assistance. Your gift in the amount of $472.66, received 8/25/2016 (check# 65950) to the Food Bank's 2017 Annual Campaign will support our mission to provide nutritious foods to Delawareans and provide long-term solutions to the problems of hunger and poverty through community education and advocacy. (Retain this letter as a tax receipt.)

Your generous donation helps the Food Bank provide vital food and services to those who need it the most. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 160,080 backpack kits for schoolchildren so they could have meals to eat when they were not in school. Our after school meal program for children served over 243,000 meals. We distributed over 5.6 million pounds of food with the help of our Program Partners. We started a new Produce Prescription Program to provide fruits and vegetables to children in need. Your donations make such a difference to families and individuals who are struggling to put food on the table.

The Food Bank has been hard at work this summer meeting the needs of the community. Our Summer Food Service Program is well under way, serving breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks daily to children who might otherwise go hungry without access to school meals. We are also very excited about our upcoming relocation to a larger, more efficient facility in Newark which should help us reach more people in need and touch more lives.
Don't forget to mark your calendars, our Halloween Blue Jean Ball will be held on October 22nd this year!

Thank you for being a champion for those at risk of going hungry. Together we can solve hunger in the state of Delaware.

Del-One Foundation's 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Del-One Foundation's 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament that was held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club was a success! There were 16 teams registered, the weather was nice, the golf course looked amazing, and everyone had a wonderful time!

On behalf of the Del-One Foundation, we would like to thank you for your generosity and involvement in making the 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament a success! Through your kindness, a profit of over $9,000.00 was made to benefit the Del-One Foundation, and will assist the Foundation in furthering its philanthropic objectives throughout the State of Delaware.

This year, charities including Kay's Kamp, Clothing Our Kids, and A Foundation for a Better Tomorrow will receive much needed funding, and we couldn't have done it without your help!

Once again, we truly thank you for your support, and look forward to seeing you at our next tournament in the fall of 2017.

Fair Hill International

As we come to the end of another fantastic year, we here at Fair Hill International want to take a minute to thank our wonderful sponsors. Without your support, FHI and The Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International would not be the success that it is.

This year we were thrilled to be an Olympic Selection Trial and part of the Road to Rio for our U.S. riders. We had over 14,000 people on site over the entire week - greater than a 12% increase in attendance from 2014. Our vendor tent was filled to the brim with all spaces, both indoor and outdoor, sold out. Tailgating slots were also sold out, and the popularity of the tailgating competition means that it will be back again next year.

The success of all areas of the event mean that competitors, owners, and spectators all enjoyed themselves and look to return next year. The buzz from our increased social media focus also helped to raise our profile and hopefully will help to continue to increase attendance. All of these factors mean that more people are exposed to our fantastic sponsors.

Thank you again for your support in 2015, and best wishes for a fabulous, prosperous, and fun 2016!

MarkInc Ministries Donation

Thirteen-year-old Bethany Hamilton's life changed in a split second when a 14 foot shark bit off her left arm as she was surfing in the waters of Hawaii. Bethany's redemption story resonates with the MARK.INC team because she found help and hope in Jesus when the lights in her life went out.

As you know, Bethany, better known as "Soul Surfer," the name of the movie that tells her story, is coming to Delaware on April 8-9 as our guest. Bethany will not only speak at our annual spring benefit and a Brunch with Bethany on Saturday morning, but Chuck and I will be interviewing Bethany for one of our Learning to See When the Lights Go Out audio resources.

Bethany's redemption story will be the centerpiece of a new audio series that addresses the challenges teens and young adults face. In 2016, we hope to produce this mini-series and offer help and hope to teens and young adults who are struggle with eating disorders, cutting, body image and bullying.

Your gifts make it possible for us to dream big about the many ways we can offer help and hope to the hurting.

Thank you for standing with us! We hope to see you at the Ride the Wave with Soul Surfer Bethany Hamilton the weekend of April 8 and 9!

4-H/FFA Tractor Driving Contest at Delaware State Fair

Please accept my sincerest thanks for your support of this year's 4-H / FFA Tractor Driving Contest at the Delaware State Fair. Your support of the event is greatly appreciated and makes a big impact on the area youth that participate. The competition was close once again this year. All of the contestants were members of the FFA with four contestants also competing under the 4-H banner...

Each year, we make efforts to improve the event for the participants -- we've scheduled pre-event practice sessions, we've provided study guides to assist in preparation, and we continually work to make the event a fun, fair, and worthwhile educational competition. Without the help from community supporters like your, whatever your role, such an  event would not be as valuable an experience for the competitors...

Again, thank you so much for sharing your time, expertise, or equipment for the FFA/4-H Tractor Driving Contest at the Delaware State Fair.

Sincerely,
Michael J Love, Extension Safety Agent

Blessing of the Combines

Thank you so much for your donation of $25.00 toward the expenses of the Blessing of the Combines this year. The funds help provide farm-centered fun for children and adults alike.

The day was the best of all worlds: the farmers got needed rain; and the rain avoided Snow Hill during the hours of the Blessing of the Combines. More than 1,200 people were in town for the event -- they came early and stayed late. Our new parking signs, shuttle service, and expanded parking areas and assistants helped things run smoothly. The Petting Barnyard and the Children's Barnyard kept youngsters busy and happy, and the new "Corn Maze" was a bit hit!

Louder than Words - Turning Faith Into Action
12071 Willow Grove Road, Wyoming, Delaware 19934

We would like to thank you for your generous support of the Louder Than Words youth discipleship ministry. The amount of the contribution was a surprise to us but also a huge encouragement. We have several big events coming up in the next several months so the timing could not be better. Today we will be working to finalize more plans for our first annual LTW conference. The conference runs from November 9th through the 11th and there will be six discipleship teams from five different states attending. On the final day, Monday the 11th (Veterans Day), several of the teams will give a three hour presentation at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC.

Another big event that we have begun planning is the three week mission trip with a team of about twelve of us. The trip leaves on February 9th and returns on March 3rd and we will be making six to eight stops going to and from the Voice of the Martyrs Headquarters in Bartlesville, OK. While there, we will be working in their "state of the art" distribution center for a full week. At several of the other stops, our team will be leading mime/discipleship workshops to groups of people who are interested in what LTW does. The goal will be for them to start their own mime/discipleship team within their community.

Thanks again for the part you play by providing the resource necessary for these life changing activities to take place. [DOWNLOAD LETTER]

University of Delaware Cooperative Extension FFA & 4-H Clubs
Tractor Operator Competition at the Delaware State Fair

Thank you for supporting the FFA / 4-H Tractor Operator Competition event at the Delaware State Fair. With your help and support, these aspiring agricultural minded teenagers were able to safely compete at the state level competition with the best equipment available.

Fifteen drivers participated in this year's event. The contest consisted of five parts: a written test, tools/tractor parts ID, a two-wheeled manure spreader event, a four-wheeled trailer event, a skid steer, and a bucket loader event. They proved to be great representatives of their respective FFA Chapters / 4-H Clubs. The winners were Kyle Cadmus representing the Smyrna FFA and Caleb Kirk representing County Seat 4-H Club. As you may know, Kyle will be heading to "The Big E" in Springfield, Massachusetts to represent Delaware FFA, and Caleb will represent Delaware 4-H in the National Engineering Event at Perdue University later this year.

Again, this event would not happen without your help and ongoing support. On behalf of the volunteer judges, the FFA Advisors, the 4-H Leaders and a fine group of competitors, please accept our sincerest appreciation. And feel free to call on us if we can ever be of assistance to you. [DOWNLOAD LETTER]

The Friends of Historic Camden

On behalf of the Friends of Historic Camden, I would like to thank you for your donation in support of our 2013 Camden Day Event. We realize that many worthy organizations solicit your support throughout the year and thank you for your commitment to our group's effort of history, education and preservation.

The community and  business donations and sponsorships, as well as the hard work our dedicated volunteers were critical to the success of Camden Day 2013. Through this and other events, the Friends of Historic Camden is able to showcase our town's history and heritage and raise monies in support of our mission.

This year, all of the monies raised are going to the Brecknock Manor House Restoration Project. The 18th century home is an important part of our town's history and is included on the Delaware Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway. The Friends of Historic Camden is committed to help restore and preserve the Manor House and we are currently working with the architectural firm to have an engineering study completed. This will allow us to determine the critical needs and priorities in the restoration process. The monies raised will help fun the study.

Again, thank you for your support,

Sincerely,

Teddy Bears for Children at Kent General Hospital
Local Businesses Spread Holiday Cheer

December 2013 - The idea of spending Christmas in the hospital is hard for children to accept. While it is often necessary for these small patients to receive important care through the holidays, they just don't like it. Special meals, familiar songs, and employees dressed in costumes are some of the ways Bayhealth brightens the holidays for our Pediatrics patients.

This week, several generous community members have also contributed to the festivities on Pediatrics. Win and Carolyn Kipp, of Felton, presented dolls, cars, and other toys to Bayhealth Kent General Pediatrics Nurse Manager Pamela Laymon, BSN, RNC-LRN. "These gifts will make a big difference for our patients," said Laymon. "We are grateful for anything that makes a child smile."

CeCe Babbit, vice president of Burke Equipment Company, in Dover, was accompanied by two of her grandchildren, Lily and Cameron, on her annual trip to Bayhealth Kent General to present a cartload of stuffed teddy bears, dogs, monkeys, and other animals. Burke Equipment, Grace Church of Dover's Sunday School, and Pratt Insurance Co. contributed the animals.

Four enormous stockings filled with games, coloring books, crayons, and other toys were given by representatives from WSFS Bank. "We are very touched," said Laymon. "Every one of these gifts will help the children we care for."

December 2012 - Children throughout Bayhealth’s Kent General Hospital enjoyed holiday visits and gifts from two local businesses this week, WSFS Bank and Burke Equipment Company.

Accompanied by her granddaughter, Lily, CeCe Babbitt of Burke Equipment has brought stuffed animals to children throughout the hospital for the past five years.

“We love coming here,” Babbitt said. “This is our community, and we want to give back.”

Lily helped Pediatrics patients select their favorite animals from an assortment of bears, dragons, monkeys, and tigers. She also stocked the trees in the Emergency Department and Outpatient Services, hoping that the animals will find homes with children who visit in the coming weeks.

Burke Equipment Company Donates Hardworking Kubota Zero Turn Mower to ABC’s “Extreme Home Makeover”

Burke Equipment Company, a leading construction, landscaping & residential equipment dealership is donating a Heavy-Duty Pro Commercial Kubota Zero Turn ZG200 Mower to the rebuilding of the Jusst Sooup Ranch in Lewes, Delaware.

For 12 years, Dale Dunning has fed the hungry and helped the needy of Sussex County from her tan RV and at the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, earning accolades and national attention. On Monday morning, another large vehicle pulled up outside the church hall where Dunning feeds her flock several days a week -- the famous bus from ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Dunning will be getting a new home on a six-acre site near the community of Cool Spring. The site, to be known as Jusst Sooup Ranch, will feature several other buildings to help her in her mission. All the buildings together would total more than 5,000 square feet and that the site would include a garden. [READ MORE]
